Working in the UK

- If you want to migrate to the UK on the basis of your skills and education, you may want to consider our Points Based System Tier 1 visa
- If you have found an employer in the UK who is willing to sponsor you to work there, you will most likely need a Work Permit before you apply for a visa;
- If you are a commonwealth national between the age of 17 and 31 and you are looking to “experience” the UK through an extended holiday, where you can work for up to a year to support yourself, you should look at our Working Holidaymaker visa , or check out the Canadian government’s Student Work Abroad Program;
- If you have a business in Canada that you want to relocate to the UK, if you want to open an office in the UK, or you want to invest there, there may be a visa for you. In the first instance, we suggest that you contact the nearest office of UK Trade and Investment in Canada
- Some Students can also work in the UK during and after their courses.
- Alternatively, if you have family links to the UK you could qualify for a UK Ancestry visa or a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode
I travel to the UK on business. Do I need a visa?
Canadian nationals do not need a visa to visit the UK. If you do not hold a Canadian passport please check the WorldBridge website to see if you do need a visa to visit the UK.
Visitors are generally allowed to remain in the UK for up to six months, provided they are not working there or providing services. If you are unsure whether your activities in the UK constitute employment or the provision of services, please consult the detailed business visitor information provided online by the UK Border Agency or consider taking advice from a licensed immigration advisor.
I am British (or a national a European Economic Area country)
You do not require a visa or other permission to work or live in the UK as long as you enter on a British or EEA passport.
