Climate Change Reception at the Vancouver Aquarium (03/11/2009)
On 28 October, the British Consulate-General Vancouver, in partnership with the Vancouver Aquarium and the British Council, held a high-profile reception at the Aquarium’ s new Canadian Arctic exhibit.
Against the spectacular backdrop of the Aquarium’s family of beluga whales, guests enjoyed a documentary about the Cape Farewell voyage to the Arctic and an Arctic photographic exhibit. Guest speakers, who had taken part in the Cape Farewell Voyage, shared their experiences of seeing first hand the effects of climate change in the Arctic. 18 year old student Alejandra Henao spoke passionately about how deeply the experience of travelling to the Arctic had affected her, and urged everyone - old and young, rich and poor - to play their part in halting climate change.
