Welcome

British High Commisisoner

Anthony Cary, British High Commissioner to Canada

I have been High Commissioner in Canada since February 2007, the 22nd holder of that office since it was created in 1928 to resolve a perceived conflict between the constitutional and political roles of the Governor General, who effectively doubled as "British Ambassador" until that time.

It is a privilege to live and work in this vast and beautiful country, with such close ties of history and sentiment to the UK.  The UK is the second largest destination for Canadian exports, and Canada is regularly among the top five sources for investment into the UK.  The relationship often goes unsung but that's precisely because it is such a natural one.  Canada and the UK are friends and partners across the board - from the Commonwealth to the UN, NATO, the G8 group of countries - and in many, many other contexts. Let's make the most of it.

This website is intended to provide easy access to information about all aspects of the UK, our services for British nationals and businesses, our offices in Canada, answers to frequently asked questions, and more. If there is something you do not find, please let us know and we will try to help you.
